What can I say about Aromatherapy? - Too much for a short blog post that's for sure!
I use Essential oils daily - In my bath, shower, skin care & diffusers.
There are so many beautiful oils out there - & also some pretty vile ones too! (Citronella anyone?).
Aromatherapy is a very personal choice. It is not just about the scent, but the many values the oils have to the body systems, from Stress relief, to insect repellent From easing Insomnia to helping reduce symptoms of cold & flu.
Many people request an Aromatherapy massage, but really they are looking for a deep tissue massage with nice smelling oils - That can be accommodated, and the oils will always be chosen personally, on the day of treatment, depending on what is going on with the client.
A true Aromatherapy massage however, is the most relaxing, blissful treat! In most massages, oils assist the hands of the therapist to manipulate muscle tissue.
With Aromatherapy massage, the hands assist the oils to work their magic! It's a very hypnotic process.

Effleurage! - It's one of my favourite words! - "A form of massage involving circular, stroking movements made with the palm of the hand."
Effleurage is the movement we use at the start and end of each massage and even in between!
It's gentle, relaxing & soothing. We use Effleurage when we apply the oil to th3 body and it helps us warm up skin and muscle tissue prior to incorporating deeper movements.
What's your favourite part about a massage?

Reflexology is one of my favourite treatments to give. It is a natural, holistic therapy that encourages the body to re-balance.
Using pressure applied to reflex points on the feet, it is suitable for most people, including children and the elderly.
I love seeing the transformation in my client's from when the enter, to when they leave.
It's so very relaxing & a huge stress reliever. When stress levels are reduced, the body functions more optimally.
Reflexology also improves circulation, encouraging blood flow to vital organs, lowering blood pressure and improves lymphatic function. - Even more so when using the Lymphatic Drainage technique.

So, after taking 18 months off, due to the Pandemic, I am finally going back to work! This is really exciting for me, and doubly so as when I start back in September, I will have my very own treatment room!
This has been my dream since I started, back in 2011, and I am trying not to overthink it!
The Pandemic has brought so much anxiety to everyone, but that is where I step in! All of my treatments are focused primarily on relaxation! Be it the mind or the body, when we are relaxed we can be the best version of ourselves. Our body's function much better when we are less stressed. Both Physically and emotionally.
People often think stress is primarily an emotional state - But it plays so much havoc with our other body functions, lowering our immune systems, and this is often taken for granted.
Physical signs of stress can include IBS, migraine, excessive sweating, aching muscles & joints, insomnia, chest pains, high blood pressure and decreased resistance to illnesses such as colds and flu.
Over the coming weeks, I shall be posting more information about the variety of treatments that I offer, and the benefits involved, including some self care tips where appropriate.
If there are any particular treatments that you would like more information on, or would like to see featured, then do let me know.
Please do take the time to like, comment and share my posts - It will be hugely appreciated as I build my business back up to where it was, and grow it further.
Much love to you all! x
Exercise - How often are we told that exercise is important for our Health & Well-being?
& It is - But only in the right format.
Last year, I signed up to a very expensive Gym - Yet I hardly use it! I resent the driveway (You have to give way - Not may others do!) - I resent the fortune they charge each month, I resent the fact the equipment I want to use is always busy & that there are more often than not, swimming lessons or Aqua going on in the pool, rendering it not a great environment to swim in! (Yeah, If I wanted to swim in tidal waves I would head for the Sea thanks very much!)
What I do enjoy, and what gets me working the hardest, is sessions with my PT, Closely followed by a weekly session of Box fit & a Stretch class. I LOVE these exercise sessions - I look forward to them.
My resolution this year is to do more of what I love & less of what I don't love! How about you?
Reflexology is a natural, Holistic treatment that enables the client to relax deeply, reducing stress levels and promoting positive well-being. Stress has a major impact on us, physically, as well as psychologically; therefore, by reducing our levels of tension, we are able to function more optimally. Mood is improved & Better sleep is promoted.
Reflexology is a very gentle and non-invasive technique, using specific thumb and finger pressures on certain points on the feet or hands that are said to mirror the body’s systems. Reflexology not only works on the Physical level, but also the emotional level.
For instance, we consider the Right Foot to signify the past, and the left to signify the present, but also the Male and Female aspect of ourselves, or the role of someone important in our life. Grief = Lungs, Anxiety = Stomach or Solar Plexus. Liver = Anger.
Reflexology shares its development with many different cultures. It dates back to ancient civilizations such as Egypt, China & India but was only introduced to the West in the early 20th Century. Near Cairo there is a Pictograph in the tomb of an Egyptian Physician named Ankhmahor (Tomb of the Physician) that is dated 2500 – 2330 BC.
Modern Reflexology is founded on the concept of “Zone Therapy” which was first documented in the 16th Century and has developed further with findings from Sir Henry Head, An English Neurologist, &
Dr William Fitzgerald – an Ear, Nose & Throat surgeon from America. This technique was then developed further, by American Physiotherapist, Eunice Ingham, whose workings now form the basis of the chart we commonly use today.
No two Foot Charts are the same – This is mainly due to copyright.
There are several different theories about how reflexology works. None of them has been proven as a fact but they all agree on one basic principle – that Reflexology helps people to relax, improves circulation & helps the body to manage stress.
