Caversham's first choice for Reflexology, Massage, Aromatherapy & Western Acupuncture
Frequently Asked Questions
Are you new to Complementary therapy? Would you like to know what to expect?
I hope to have answered any questions below, but please do get in touch if you have any queries.
Where exactly are you located?
My address is 28b Prospect Street, but the entrance is just around the corner on Chester Street. The reason for this is that the building was split into two during renovations, so the Grocery store in front now has the main entrance. What is the best time to arrive before my scheduled appointment?
5 minutes before the scheduled appointment time is ideal. Any sooner than this, and I am unable to accommodate you, as I have no waiting area.
What should I wear?
For Acupuncture & the Quinn Neuropractic technique, please wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing.
Massage - Please don't wear your best silk shirt! - Oil & Silk are not a match made in heaven - Please wear something comfortable.
Reflexology - So long as you are comfortable & I can access your feet. - But Flip Flops & Foot Wax are not the best combi! Socks & trainers / comfy shoes for after are a must!
How deep is the massage? The massage can be as deep or as gentle as you prefer. Whilst I don't believe massage should cause you pain, I work with you to decide which type of pressure is more suitable. And this may actually change from treatment to treatment, depending on what is happening in your life. If you are experiencing a hormonal shift, or extreme stress, you may be more sensitive than usual, so we may need to use a lighter pressure, whilst your Nervous System relaxes.
Do I need to do anything before hand?
Just try not to rush to your appointment to ensure maximum benefit. Ensure you have eaten around 2 hours beforehand, to avoid blood sugar dips. Be well hydrated Switch your phone to silent!
Do I need to do anything after?
It is best not to plan your massage prior to coffee or drinks with friends, a big Friday night out, or a heavy gym session, as the body is going to try and eliminate toxins - The following may make you feel sluggish:
It is advised to avoid Alcohol & caffeine Drink Plenty of water Not eat anything to rich or too spicy Take some time to rest - You may feel sleepy! Avoid strenuous activity for the rest of the day, But I have not shaved my legs / cut my toe nails / had a pedicure...
I don't care! It makes no difference to your treatment. I have seen it all before.
I have had a cough / cold / flu / gastric bug - Am I ok to attend my appointment?
Please do not attend your appointment if you are unwell. Aside from overloading your own system, you risk passing something on to myself. I require you to be free from coughs, colds, flu & gastric bugs for at least 48 hours prior to treatment. Please call me to re-schedule your appointment if you become unwell, or have had any symptoms.
Please ensure you read the Cancellation Policy prior to booking, as T's & C's Apply.
