Caversham's first choice for Reflexology, Massage, Aromatherapy & Western Acupuncture
Clare Newman
Working from my peaceful practice room in the heart of Caversham, I offer a unique, person centred approach, with the focus on relaxing both the body and the mind.
My approach in my treatment room is to create a feeling of calm, balance and understanding.
I have been working in complementary therapies since 2003. Having seen the effects first hand, I just had to find out more! I became especially interested in treating the root cause of an issue, rather than just the symptoms.
I initially qualified in Food Intolerance Testing in 2009 and eager for more knowledge, followed this with qualifications in Anatomy & Pathology, Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Swedish Massage, Indian Head Massage, Facials, Facial Reflexology, Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage, Oncology Massage, Hot Stones Massage, Sports Massage, Emotional Freedom Technique (Tapping), The Emmet Technique and the Quinn Neuropractic Technique, Hands Free Massage & AET (Teaching further education).
More recently, I have just qualified in Western Acupuncture & Dry needling. Western Acupuncture is different from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), although it uses some of the same Meridians, alongside Trigger points, to help with pain relief, Stress, anxiety, Fatigue, brain fog, bloating, immune boosting & general well-being.
I believe in a person centred approach to well-being, and that pain & tension in the body, can be reduced by alleviating stress and tension in the mind. Everything is connected - The physical & the emotional, and my treatments reflect this.
Whilst I no longer offer some therapies in their own right, I still use some of my favourite techniques from each discipline, where appropriate.
I am always learning, and seek to bring the best of my knowledge into my treatments. I believe that there is always something new to learn, and that continuing my professional development enables me to provide the best quality treatments to my clients, including the newest guidelines, advice and information.
The whole "No pain, no gain" theory is meaningless to me. If I am causing you pain, I am causing tension in your body, which is counter productive to what we are aiming to achieve. We can reduce stress, anxiety & tension in a much more gentle manner, with, I believe a greater effect.
My approach in my treatment room is to create a feeling of calm, balance and understanding.
